Here’s what we could confirm about WestJet bags as of 2026-10-31. Your fare, route, ticket date, benefits, and the airline flying the trip can still change the answer.

What we know: Some rules checked
If you don’t see a price here, it doesn’t mean the bag is free. Check the final charge and acceptance rules with WestJet for your flight.
When these rules apply
Fare-, itinerary-, timing- and tax-dependent baggage.
Size and weight limits
We couldn’t confirm a complete size and weight table for WestJet. Check the airline’s current policy before you pack; a blank space here doesn’t mean there’s no limit.
Checked bags, extra pieces and excess fees
We couldn’t confirm one WestJet fee that fits every booking. Open your trip with the airline to see what it will charge for this bag.
How to add and pay for bags
- Add Rewards ID.
- Check UltraBasic limitations before buying.
- Compare the member quote and airport quote.
Timing: Compare eligible prepayment more than 24 hours before departure.
A carry-on restriction may need a fare change, not a bag purchase.
Free bags and possible savings
- Add the WestJet Rewards ID and compare the resulting eligible member quote.
Special items, connections and refunds
We couldn’t confirm one WestJet price that covers every sports item, stroller, or mobility device. Ask about the exact item you’re bringing, especially if another airline flies part of the trip. If a paid checked bag is delayed or lost, report it to the airline and keep the bag tag and fee receipt.
- UltraBasic does not generally allow buying an ordinary carry-on as a simple add-on; exceptions must be matched.

Checked bags
This page covers Fare-, itinerary-, timing- and tax-dependent baggage.. We couldn’t confirm one standard weight limit for every fare. Check the purchased fare for the included piece count.
Carry-on
We couldn’t confirm a current carry-on size for this airline. Fare inclusion and aircraft space are different questions from size.
Personal item
We couldn’t confirm a fixed underseat size for this airline. The item still needs to fit under the seat on the operating flight.
Overweight fees
We couldn’t confirm a standard weight limit for this fare. A heavier bag may cost extra. Check the base bag price and the excess charge together before you pay.
Oversized fees
We couldn’t confirm the ordinary checked-bag size limit here. Measure outside length, width and height and separately check the maximum accepted size.
Extra bag numbers
Your second or third bag may cost more than your first. Start with the bags included on your ticket, then price each additional piece for that traveler.
Fare baggage allowance
WestJet allowance cannot be inferred from the brand alone. Match the fare printed on the ticket, the route, any bundle and the date the ticket was issued or changed.
Add or pay for bags
Add Rewards ID. Check UltraBasic limitations before buying. Compare eligible prepayment more than 24 hours before departure.
Free checked bags
Add the WestJet Rewards ID and compare the resulting eligible member quote. A standard-piece waiver does not automatically waive excess weight or size.
Sports equipment
Bringing a bike, golf bag, skis, or an instrument? Check the airline’s packing and special-item rules before using an ordinary checked-bag price.
Family and medical bags
A stroller, car seat, or mobility device may follow different rules from a suitcase. Tell the airline what you’re bringing and check its handling and battery instructions.
Connecting flights
Check whether each segment is marketed and operated by WestJet or a partner. A separate ticket can require a new bag purchase and physical recheck.
Baggage refunds
If a paid checked bag is lost or significantly delayed, report it to the airline and keep your bag tag and fee receipt. An unused prepaid bag has a different refund question.
For any unresolved detail, check the WestJet policy for the current ticket and operating flight.
