Match the operator and the departure date
The researched Jetstar announcement applies to JQ departures from February 2, 2027. It must not be applied early to an October 2026 departure, and it must not automatically be assigned to Jetstar Japan GK.
This is a useful example of why a website needs both “published on” and “effective for travel from” fields. The date when a page is updated is not necessarily the day the passenger’s allowance changes.
Keep cabin and checked products separate
A checked-weight purchase does not raise the cabin allowance. A paid cabin product and an underseat item also have distinct size and weight conditions. Confirm the exact product in the booking rather than relying on the group’s brand name.
For travel before the new JQ date, use the applicable earlier/current operator-specific rules. For later travel, verify the announced rule, fare inclusion and any grandfathering language in the live booking. Do not manufacture a ticket-date exception when the published condition uses travel date.
How to present the change
Show a future-policy notice beside the existing rule, with an explicit departure-date selector. A user looking up baggage months before travel should see why their result differs from someone departing this week. Keep an unresolved field visible instead of merging policy generations into one average allowance.
