What changed, and what did not
American published an April 9, 2026 ticket boundary for ordinary checked bags and a later May 18 Basic Economy boundary. Keep ticket issue date separate from departure date. The web discount has route and purchase-window exclusions, so one domestic example must not be copied across the international table.

| Field | Why to record it |
|---|---|
| Ticket or change date | The new policy may begin at ticketing or reissue, not at flight departure. |
| Operating flight | A partner may have its own cabin or checked-bag acceptance rules. |
| Product and receipt | The purchased fare or bag service is the starting point for a refund or comparison. |
