Here’s what we could confirm about Ryanair bags as of 2026-10-31. Your fare, route, ticket date, benefits, and the airline flying the trip can still change the answer.

What we know: Some rules checked
If you don’t see a price here, it doesn’t mean the bag is free. Check the final charge and acceptance rules with Ryanair for your flight.
When these rules apply
European onward flight; not a claim of U.S. service.
Checked, carry-on and personal item limits
Start with these published limits, then check the fare you bought. Measure the packed bag on the outside, including wheels and handles.
| Policy detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Max checked per piece kg | 32 |
| Personal item (cm) | 40 × 30 × 20 |
| Paid cabin cm | 55 × 40 × 20 |
Checked bags, extra pieces and excess fees
- Airport excess is EUR/GBP13 per kilogram under the applicable currency rules.
These prices apply only to the conditions listed above. Your route, fare, ticket date, or benefits can change what you pay.
How to add and pay for bags
- Use the correct baggage product during booking or reservation management.
Free bags and possible savings
- Purchased checked weight can be pooled on the same reservation/flight, with 32 kg per-piece maximum.
Special items, connections and refunds
We couldn’t confirm one Ryanair price that covers every sports item, stroller, or mobility device. Ask about the exact item you’re bringing, especially if another airline flies part of the trip. If a paid checked bag is delayed or lost, report it to the airline and keep the bag tag and fee receipt.
- Paid cabin and checked products differ; do not silently convert EUR/GBP into a charged USD amount.
Worked bag examples
We can confirm 39 EUR of the charge, but not the full total. Native EUR airport overweight component, not USD. Pooling and purchased allowance must first be resolved.
Questions to answer before you pay
Does Ryanair allow checked-weight pooling?
For eligible purchased hold weight on the same flight and reservation, yes, while each piece must remain within its maximum.
Next: Confirm the booking and per-piece maximum.

Checked bags
Ryanair sells distinct 10 kg, 20 kg and 23 kg check-in products. A 20 kg product can be purchased for up to three bags, while the 23 kg product is limited to one bag. Each is dropped before security and travels in the hold.
Carry-on
The 55 × 40 × 20 cm overhead bag is a separate 10 kg product with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags or an eligible fare. Buying a 20 kg checked bag does not create an overhead allowance.
Personal item
All fares include one 40 × 30 × 20 cm small bag that fits under the seat. Compare the packed outside sides, not just their combined total.
Overweight fees
A purchased 10, 20 or 23 kg check-in bag above its product weight can trigger an airport excess charge per extra kilogram. Ryanair says an ordinary individual item over 32 kg is not accepted; this page does not quote an unverified per-kilogram amount.
Oversized fees
Ryanair states that an ordinary checked item cannot exceed the combined box of 80 cm high, 120 cm wide and 120 cm deep. A sports item uses a separate packing and purchase rule; neither box is a universal cabin size.
Extra bag numbers
The number of pieces depends on the product: up to three 20 kg check-in bags or one 23 kg check-in bag can be bought. Price each added product in the reservation rather than multiplying a first-bag charge.
Fare baggage allowance
Basic includes the small underseat bag. Regular adds Priority and a 10 kg cabin bag; Plus includes a 20 kg check-in bag. A purchased baggage add-on can change the booking beyond the fare label.
Add or pay for bags
Use My Bookings or the Ryanair app to add the exact cabin or hold product. Confirm whether the item appears as Priority & 2 Cabin Bags, 10 kg Check-in, 20 kg Check-in or 23 kg Check-in before payment.
Free checked bags
A small personal item is included with every fare, but it is not a checked bag. A Plus fare includes a 20 kg checked product through the paid fare; verify that exact reservation before treating another piece as included.
Sports equipment
Ryanair treats large sports equipment as a separate hold product, generally up to 20 kg; bicycles can have a 30 kg limit and require protective packaging. An extra seat purchase does not include a baggage allowance.
Family and medical bags
For an infant on an adult lap, Ryanair permits a 5 kg baby bag within 45 × 35 × 20 cm and two baby-equipment items. Mobility equipment has a separate exception to the ordinary 32 kg individual-item ceiling.
Connecting flights
This profile covers a possible European onward flight for U.S. travelers and makes no claim of direct U.S. service. A separate ticket can require a new bag product and physical recheck at the connection.
Baggage refunds
A bag refused by the sizer or charged at the gate raises a different question from a lost paid checked bag. Save the baggage product, charge receipt and written policy, then ask Ryanair about the specific transaction.
For any unresolved detail, check the Ryanair policy for the current ticket and operating flight.
