Volaris publishes a 35 × 45 × 20 cm maximum for its underseat personal item. Its separate carry-on box is 55 × 40 × 25 cm, with a 10 kg carry-on limit and a 20 kg combined limit for the carry-on and personal item. The Zero fare includes the personal item; an overhead carry-on is an added product. Check the fare and flight before packing two cabin items.
Compare each item with its own box
| Item | Published outside size | Fare question |
|---|---|---|
| Underseat personal item | 35 × 45 × 20 cm | Included with Zero; must fit under the seat |
| Overhead carry-on | 55 × 40 × 25 cm, up to 10 kg | Add it on Zero; Flex may offer it as a chosen benefit |
| Both cabin items together | Combined weight no more than 20 kg | Check the purchased fare and actual items |
The side order can be rotated for a normal rectangular bag, but every outside side must fit inside the airline's box. A fully packed 44 × 34 × 19 cm backpack fits the underseat dimensions by orientation. A 46 × 33 × 19 cm bag exceeds the 45 cm side even though its total dimensions are smaller than the first bag's in some directions. Wheels, handles, a bulging front pocket and straps count in the real-world sizer decision. Use the personal item checker in centimeters for a first screen, then confirm with Volaris.
The 35 × 45 × 20 cm personal-item box converts to approximately 13.78 × 17.72 × 7.87 inches. Those rounded inch values are a measuring aid for a U.S. traveler; Volaris publishes the controlling box in centimeters. A suitcase sold as “18 × 14 × 8 inches” may exceed it after precise conversion and after pockets are filled.
The checked-bag rule is a different purchase
Volaris says a fare-included checked bag can allow 15 kg or 25 kg, depending on what you bought. A standard bag purchased separately can be up to 25 kg and 158 linear cm. The policy also lists a 45 kg maximum per piece when excess weight is allowed. That is not a free 45 kg allowance. Check the price for your booking; the public page doesn’t give one dollar amount for every route.
The carrier lists booking, My Trips, its app, pre-check-in purchase, the airport and its call center as ways to add baggage. The price can depend on route and purchase stage, so compare the precise product in the official flow. A Flex fare lets travelers select benefits; do not assume that every Flex booking selected the carry-on. A Plus fare has its own included baggage terms. Keep the booking record and bag receipt.
The Volaris airline profile now records the verified metric boxes and the remaining fare-price gap. A U.S.–Mexico itinerary and a separate onward carrier may apply different rules; verify the airline operating each flight and the baggage product on each reservation before payment.
