ZIPAIR: Weigh Both Cabin Items Before the Upgrade Cutoff

The allowance is combined

ZIPAIR’s ordinary cabin allowance is shared across two items, not granted independently to each bag. The researched standard combined weight is 7 kg; the eligible paid additional 8 kg product increases that combined total to 15 kg.

The important practical limit is timing. The additional cabin allowance must be purchased at least 24 hours before departure and is not sold at the airport. A traveler discovering a 10 kg combined load only 12 hours before departure should not be sent to an imaginary airport upgrade button.

What to do instead

Check the actual booking for an available checked-bag product or reduce the cabin load while staying within the allowed dimensions. A checked piece has its own weight ceiling; it does not acquire unlimited capacity because the cabin upgrade is unavailable.

When repacking, keep power banks and spare lithium batteries in compliant cabin carriage. If a cabin bag is taken for gate checking, remove those items before handing it over. Other airline restrictions may be stricter than the baseline safety guidance.

Do not import another airline’s allowance

ZIPAIR is not interchangeable with JAL’s full-service baggage product. The site should store the carrier and purchased add-ons explicitly, and show the combined cabin weight rather than evaluating each item in isolation. Keep the final purchase and acceptance check on ZIPAIR’s official service.
